I enjoy being able to utilise the power of my smart phone, as well as any portable device. When building a website, I want to have the freedom to add and edit content wherever I am! Sometimes I can be incredibly creative, and all I have access to is my phone.
Sanity
That's where Sanity comes in! It is a headless CMS that can be deployed anywhere, it even can run locally. Editing content on the go has never been easier; the sanity interface is mobile friendly, navigating is simple, and redeploying sites is just a button press that triggers a webhook.

As you can see, editing rich text, is just like editing a word document. This interface is the same on mobile. There are simple rich text widgets for creating Header text, bullet points, inserting images.. etc. It is fantastic!
Flexibility
The Sanity CMS is highly configurable, you can edit the interface heavily to however you want. You can make it match your brand. Each content type is created and modified programmatically, highly extendable to however creative you want to be. For example, you can create a new Content Type for a color picker, and then design a widget in React, that will allow you to select a colour. That new content type for color picker can now be used wherever in your project, with your own custom widget.
This means that Sanity can grow with you. The impact of this is even greater when you consider, that you are also growing your components with storybook if you have been following my blog!
Use it anywhere
I will further add to this point, the amount of times I have created a typo in my content! Only to realise when I am on the train coming back from work. Sure, sometimes I carry my laptop with me, but sometimes I forget. Having the peace of mind, to create those quick changes without anybody noticing is huge.
Also, you can run the CMS locally, it does not even need web access. With some tricks here and there, which I will cover in a future blog, you can host a local version of the CMS and the site on a linux emulator on your phone. So, even without internet ( I travel lots, and on planes) I can continue to create content, and see that content in the context of my site.
Summary
Tools are meant to help you, and should be what you use to be more productive, create increased quality, and generally make you more happy.
Tools that you have control over, are able to meld into your perfect tools. I believe Sanity is one of those perfect tools, that with enough effort, can really change your entire outlook into how you create content for your sites.
This is a similar story to Storybook, stop hard coding sites, let's aim to be flexible, and spend time building new rather than duplicating the old.
Focus your time on innovation and sharing your knowledge. Building from scratch is so old school. Be a lifelong learner, and a lifelong mentor to the world.
